Straddle Planche
The planche with the legs spread wide: the body held level above the floor on straight arms, the shoulders leaning well past the hands.
How to do it
Setup
Hands on the floor about shoulder-width, fingers turned out, arms straight, shoulders leaning forward past the wrists.
Steps
- Lean forward until the feet float off the floor.
- Open the legs wide and hold the body level, arms locked.
- Hold and breathe, then bend the knees to come down.
Common mistakes
Bending the elbows: the straight arm is the skill; shorten the lean instead. Hips sagging below the shoulders: squeeze the glutes and tuck the pelvis. Shoulders shrugging toward the ears: push the floor away.
Breathing
Steady throughout; never held.
