Planche Press

On parallettes, lower from a handstand into a planche and press back up to the handstand, the arms straight the whole way.

How to do it

Setup

Handstand on two parallettes, arms locked, body straight and stacked over the hands.

Steps

  1. Lean the shoulders forward and lower the legs until the body is level in a planche.
  2. Press the legs back up over the hands into the handstand.
  3. Keep the arms straight throughout; come down to the floor after the set.

Common mistakes

Bending the elbows to get through: the press is straight-armed; build it with the legs straddled. Arching the back on the way up: squeeze the glutes and keep the ribs in. Dropping into the planche: lower slowly, the shoulders leading.

Breathing

Inhale lowering to the planche, exhale pressing up.
