Step-Up Crossover
Step up onto a bench, then cross the free leg in front and lower it to tap the floor beside the bench as the standing knee bends; back up, then down.
How to do it
Setup
Standing close to a low, stable bench, hands together at the chest.
Steps
- Step up onto the bench and bring the other foot up beside it.
- Cross one leg in front and lower it to tap the floor beside the bench.
- Come back up to standing on the bench, then step down to the start.
Common mistakes
Dropping onto the tapping foot: touch the floor lightly and keep the weight on the bench leg. Standing knee caving in as it bends: keep it over the middle toes. Rushing on a high or wobbly bench: use a low, stable one and move with control.
Breathing
Steady with the steps.
