Lateral Bound
Push off one leg and bound sideways onto the other, landing with the free knee lifted in front; the knee drive sets it apart from the skater jump.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on one leg, knee soft, the other knee lifted, hands together at the chest.
Steps
- Sink on the standing leg and push off it sideways.
- Land softly on the other foot, bending into the landing.
- Lift the free knee in front, find balance, then bound back.
Common mistakes
Landing on a straight leg: bend the knee and hip to absorb it. Knee caving in on the landing: track it over the toes. Hopping up instead of out: the bound travels sideways.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
