Criss-Cross Stepback Hops

From a wide stance, hop and land with one leg crossed behind the other, arms swinging across; alternate sides.

How to do it

Setup

Wide stance, knees soft, arms out at chest height.

Steps

  1. Hop and land with one foot crossed behind the other, knees bent.
  2. Swing the arms across the body as you land.
  3. Hop back to the wide stance and cross the other leg.

Common mistakes

Front knee caving in the crossed landing: keep it over the toes. Twisting the hips to cross: the hips face forward; only the leg travels behind. Heavy landings: land on the balls of the feet.

Breathing

Exhale on each hop; steady rhythm.
