Step-Back Burpee

The burpee walked, not jumped: step one foot back at a time into the plank, step them back in and stand tall; the low-impact door into the family.

How to do it

Setup

Stand tall, feet shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Squat down and put the hands on the floor.
  2. Step one foot back, then the other, into a plank.
  3. Do a push-up chest to the floor.
  4. Step the feet back in one at a time and stand tall.

Common mistakes

Hips swinging as a foot steps back: brace the trunk before each step. Rushing back into a jump: the steps ARE the exercise. Rounding up from the floor: stand tall through the hips.

Breathing

Exhale on the push-up and as you stand.
