Standing Long Jump

Swing the arms, jump forward as far as you can from both feet and stick the landing in a squat.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet hip-width, toes at a line, open floor in front.

Steps

  1. Hinge and swing the arms back.
  2. Throw the arms forward and jump out and up.
  3. Land on both feet, hips back and knees bent, and hold it.

Common mistakes

Landing on straight legs: bend the knees and send the hips back as you touch. Falling forward after the landing: reach the feet out in front and hold still. Knees collapsing inward in the catch: keep them over the toes.

Breathing

Exhale on the jump, inhale walking back.
