Kneeling to Stand
From tall kneeling, swing the arms and jump both feet under you at once, landing in a squat; the hips do the jumping.
How to do it
Setup
Kneeling tall on a soft mat, arms raised in front.
Steps
- Swing the arms back and sit the hips toward the heels.
- Snap the hips forward and pop both feet under you.
- Land in a deep squat, stand up, then kneel back down one knee at a time.
Common mistakes
Stepping up one foot at a time: both feet land together, or it is a stand-up, not a jump. Landing on the toes with the heels up: aim the whole feet flat under the hips. Dropping onto the knees on the way back: kneel down slowly, on a mat.
Breathing
Exhale on the pop, inhale kneeling back down.
