Single-Leg Broad Jump
A hop for distance: take off from one leg, jump forward and land on the same leg, holding the landing.
How to do it
Setup
On one leg, the other knee bent, arms ready to swing.
Steps
- Sink on the standing leg and swing the arms back.
- Drive forward off the one leg, arms swinging through.
- Land on the same foot, knee bent over the toes, and hold it.
Common mistakes
Going for distance before the landing is stable: a shorter hop you can stick beats a long one you cannot. Knee caving on the landing leg: keep it over the middle toes. Putting the other foot down to catch yourself: shorten the hop.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale walking back.
