Stability Ball on the Wall Calf Raise (Tennis Ball Between Ankles)

The ball-on-the-wall calf raise with a tennis ball squeezed between the ankles; the squeeze stops the ankles rolling out.

How to do it

Setup

Stability ball behind the back, tennis ball between the ankles, dumbbells at the sides.

Steps

  1. Squeeze the tennis ball and rise onto the toes.
  2. Hold the top without dropping the ball.
  3. Lower the heels together, still squeezing.

Common mistakes

Ball dropping at the top: the heels parted; squeeze harder as you rise. Squeezing with the knees: press the ankle bones into the ball. Rushing to keep the ball: slow and even beats fast.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
