Stability Ball on the Wall Calf Raise

The dumbbell calf raise with a stability ball between the upper back and a wall, which keeps the rise straight up.

How to do it

Setup

Ball between the wall and the upper back, feet a small step out, dumbbells at the sides.

Steps

  1. Rise onto the toes, the ball rolling a little up the wall.
  2. Pause at the top, back resting on the ball.
  3. Lower the heels, the ball still pinned.

Common mistakes

Feet too far out: the ball slides away; a small step is enough. Shoving back into the ball: it only guides. Weight on the little toes: press through the whole forefoot.

Breathing

Exhale rising, inhale lowering.
