Spinal Stretch (On Stability Ball)

Seated on a stability ball with the hands behind the head, curl and turn the trunk down toward one knee, then rise and go the other way.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on a stability ball, feet wide and flat, hands behind the head.

Steps

  1. Turn the chest and curl down, bringing the elbow toward the opposite knee.
  2. Rise back to tall through the middle.
  3. Turn and curl down to the other side.

Common mistakes

Pulling the head down with the hands: they only rest behind it. Ball rolling as you curl: keep the feet wide and planted. Dropping fast into the curl: lower slowly and come up just as slowly.

Breathing

Exhale curling down, inhale rising.
