Lateral Bend Lying Down
Lying on the back with the hands clasped overhead, slide the upper body to one side along the floor; the opposite side of the trunk lengthens.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on the back, legs long and together, arms overhead with the hands clasped.
Steps
- Slide the head, the arms and the ribs to one side along the floor.
- Keep the hips and the legs where they are, both shoulders down.
- Hold and breathe, then return through the middle and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Rolling onto one hip: keep the back flat on the floor. Legs drifting after the chest: keep them long and still. Pulling hard with the arms: let the side lengthen as you breathe.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
