Standing Cross Legs Core Stretch
Standing with one leg crossed in front of the other and the hands laced overhead, bend toward the front leg's side; the back leg's side opens from the hands to the outer hip.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, one foot crossed in front of the other, fingers laced overhead, arms straight.
Steps
- Reach up, then bend the trunk toward the front leg's side.
- Let the hips drift the other way until the outer hip of the back leg stretches.
- Hold and breathe, then uncross and switch sides.
Common mistakes
Falling forward out of the bend: keep the chest and the arms in line with the body. Bending the arms to go lower: keep them straight so the whole side stretches. Wobbling on the crossed feet: bend less until the stance is steady.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
