Spin Bike
Riding a weighted-flywheel studio bike standing out of the saddle, the hands on the bars and the hips hovering over the seat; logged by time.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on the pedals with the feet strapped in, hands on the bars, hips just behind and above the saddle.
Steps
- Pedal standing, the hips steady over the saddle.
- Keep enough resistance on the flywheel to carry your weight.
- Sit back down to recover between standing efforts.
Common mistakes
Standing with the resistance too light: the flywheel throws the legs; add load before rising. Leaning the weight onto the bars: the legs carry you; the hands only steady. Hips bouncing up and down: keep them level over the saddle.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
