High Knees Lunge
From a lunge, stand up on the front leg and drive the back knee up to hip height, then step it back into the lunge; one leg works the whole set.
How to do it
Setup
In a long lunge, back knee just off the floor, front shin near vertical, arms bent at the sides.
Steps
- Drive through the front foot and stand up on that leg.
- Bring the back knee through and up to hip height, the opposite arm swinging forward.
- Step the same foot back down into the lunge; switch legs after the set.
Common mistakes
Pushing off the back foot to stand: the front leg does the lifting. Wobbling at the top: pause on the standing leg before stepping back. Back knee slamming down: lower into the lunge under control.
Breathing
Inhale into the lunge, exhale driving up.
