Sitting Yoga Pose Siddhasana
A seated meditation pose: one heel drawn in against the body, the other ankle resting on top of it, the spine tall while the hips open.
How to do it
Setup
Seated on the floor or on a folded blanket, knees wide.
Steps
- Draw one heel in close to the body, the sole against the inner thigh.
- Place the other ankle over it, the heels one above the other.
- Sit tall with the hands on the knees and breathe; change the top leg next time.
Common mistakes
Knees high above the hips: sit on a folded blanket so they can drop. Forcing the ankle into place: stop where the knee stays pain-free. Slumping onto the tailbone: sit up on the sit bones.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
