Reverse Warrior Pose

The Warrior II stance with the torso arching back over the rear leg, the front arm sweeping up and back and the rear hand sliding down the back leg; a side stretch held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Feet wide apart, front foot turned out, front knee bent over the ankle, arms out at shoulder height.

Steps

  1. Rest the back hand on the back thigh.
  2. Sweep the front arm up and back, arching the side toward the rear leg, and hold.
  3. Come back to Warrior II, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Front knee straightening as you lean back: keep it bent over the ankle. Leaning the weight onto the back hand: it slides lightly, the legs hold you. Crunching the lower back: lift up out of the waist before arching.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
