Warrior Pose II

A wide lunge with the front knee bent toward a right angle, the hips and chest open to the side and the arms stretched out at shoulder height; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Feet wide apart, front foot turned out, back foot slightly in, heels in one line, arms out to the sides.

Steps

  1. Bend the front knee over the ankle toward a right angle.
  2. Stretch the arms long at shoulder height, gaze over the front hand, and hold.
  3. Straighten the front leg to come out, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Front knee collapsing inward: aim it at the middle toes. Torso leaning over the front thigh: stack the shoulders over the hips. Shoulders hunching as the arms tire: drop them away from the ears and keep the arms level.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
