Split Lateral Squat with Roll

A side lunge without the step: one foot rides a foam roller out sideways as the hips sit into the other leg.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, hands on the hips, one foot resting on a foam roller at the side.

Steps

  1. Sit into the standing hip as the roller rolls out.
  2. Keep the sliding leg straight.
  3. Pull the roller back in to stand.

Common mistakes

Pressing down through the roller: it only carries the foot; the bent leg works. Bent knee caving inward: it tracks the toes. Rolling out too far: stop where the chest stays up.

Breathing

Inhale sliding out, exhale pulling in.
