Hip Circles Stretch

Feet set wide, the pelvis travels round in slow circles as the hands ride on the hips; the inner and outer thighs lengthen in turn.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, feet wider than the shoulders, knees soft, hands on the hips.

Steps

  1. Shift the hips out over one foot.
  2. Carry them round, forward and back, over the other foot in a wide circle.
  3. Circle slowly several times, then change direction.

Common mistakes

Rocking the shoulders instead of the pelvis: the chest stays over the feet. Stiff knees: soft knees let the hips travel. Small quick circles: make them wide and slow so the thighs stretch.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
