Hip Circle with Hula Hoop
Keep a hula hoop spinning around the waist by circling the hips in a steady rhythm; a light, continuous drill for the trunk.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet about hip-width, the hoop resting against the lower back, arms bent up in front of the chest.
Steps
- Throw the hoop around the waist and start the hips pushing it round.
- Keep a small, steady rhythm from the hips, knees soft.
- Hold the rhythm for the set; time it.
Common mistakes
Big wild hip swings: small quick pushes keep the hoop up. Knees locked stiff: keep them soft so the movement stays in the hips. Torso rocking back and forth: the chest stays tall; the hips do the work.
Breathing
Steady with the rhythm.
