Sitting Wide-Leg Adductor Stretch

Seated in a wide straddle with the hands on the floor in front, the chest lifts and the pelvis tips forward without folding; the inner thighs take the stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall, legs spread wide, kneecaps up, hands on the floor just in front of the hips.

Steps

  1. Press the hands down lightly and lift the chest.
  2. Tip the pelvis forward until the inner thighs stretch, the back staying upright.
  3. Hold and breathe, then relax back onto the sit bones.

Common mistakes

Slumping onto the tailbone: sit up on the sit bones, a folded towel under them if needed. Knees rolling in: kneecaps point up. Folding forward over the legs: that is the forward fold; here the trunk stays tall.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
