Side Split
The legs slide apart to either side toward one line with the hips, the hands on the floor carrying the weight; held for time.
How to do it
Setup
Standing with the feet wide, toes forward, hands ready to reach the floor in front.
Steps
- Place the hands on the floor and let the feet slide apart slowly.
- Stop at a strong stretch in the inner thighs, weight in the hands.
- Hold and breathe, then walk the feet back in with the hands' help.
Common mistakes
Dropping into the split without the hands: they take the weight so you choose the depth. Knees rolling down: kneecaps and toes point up or forward. Bouncing for depth: depth comes over weeks of holds, not in one set.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
