Half-Kneeling Side Lunge

Kneeling on one knee with the other leg long out to the side, shift the hips toward the side foot as its knee bends, then back; the inner thighs open in turn.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling on one knee under the hip, the other leg straight out to the side with the foot flat, palms together at the chest.

Steps

  1. Shift the hips toward the side foot, bending that knee over the toes.
  2. Pause where the inner thigh of the kneeling leg opens.
  3. Push back to the start until the side leg is straight again.

Common mistakes

Side knee caving past the toes: keep it tracking over the foot. Side foot lifting its inner edge: press the whole sole down. Chest dropping forward: keep it tall over the hips.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
