Standing Rotational Hip Stretch

Beside a box, the near leg rests bent and turned out on top, knee to the side; the inner thigh stretches as the hand eases the knee down.

How to do it

Setup

Side-on to a box about hip height, the near leg bent and turned out on top, the standing leg straight.

Steps

  1. Rest the same-side hand on the raised knee.
  2. Ease the knee down and back until the inner thigh stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch legs.

Common mistakes

Pushing the knee down hard: let the hand rest and the hip open slowly. Leaning the trunk over the box: stand tall over the standing foot. A box so high the hip hitches up: pick a lower one.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
