Side to Side Garland Pose
The garland squat, heels down and elbows pressing the knees apart, with the weight rocking from one foot to the other; the hips and ankles loosen.
How to do it
Setup
Deep squat, feet a little wider than the hips, toes turned out, palms together at the chest.
Steps
- Press the elbows into the inner knees and lift the chest.
- Shift the weight slowly over one foot, then over the other.
- Keep both heels down and rock at an even pace.
Common mistakes
Heels lifting on the shift: put a rolled towel under them. Knees caving in as the weight moves: keep them pointing over the toes. Rounding the back to sink lower: chest up first, depth second.
Breathing
Slow, even breaths as you rock.
