Side-to-Side Chin
Pull up with a wide grip, then shift the body toward one hand and then the other before lowering; each side takes most of the weight in turn.
How to do it
Setup
Hang from the bar with the hands well outside the shoulders, arms straight.
Steps
- Pull the chin over the bar in the middle.
- Slide the head toward one hand, then across to the other, staying high.
- Return to the middle and lower to straight arms.
Common mistakes
Dropping below the bar while shifting: the chin stays over it for the whole traverse. Kicking the legs to move across: the arms and back carry you. Rushing the lowering: lower slowly from the middle.
Breathing
Exhale on the pull, breathe steadily across, inhale lowering.
