Ring Wide Pull-Up

The ring pull-up with the rings set well outside the shoulders; the width works like a wide-grip bar while the rings still let the wrists turn.

How to do it

Setup

Rings hung well wider than the shoulders, dead hang, arms straight.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest up between the rings, elbows driving down and out.
  2. Let the rings turn as you rise.
  3. Lower to a full hang with control.

Common mistakes

Rings sliding in toward each other: keep them wide the whole rep. Swinging to reach the top: still the rings before each rep. Stopping above straight arms: the full hang is part of the rep.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
