Ring Archer Pull-Up

The archer pull-up on gymnastic rings: rise toward one ring while the other arm straightens out to the side; the free rings make the straight arm work to stay out.

How to do it

Setup

Hang from rings set wider than the shoulders, arms straight, legs together.

Steps

  1. Pull toward one ring while pressing the other out to the side on a straight arm.
  2. Bring the chin up beside the working ring.
  3. Lower to the middle and switch sides.

Common mistakes

Straight-arm ring drifting in: press it out and keep the arm long. Rings swinging between reps: still them before pulling. Rushing the switch: pause in the middle hang.

Breathing

Exhale on each pull, inhale lowering.
