Side Lying Diagonal Backward Leg Raise
The side-lying leg raise that travels up and back on a diagonal; aiming the leg behind the body brings the big glute in alongside the side of the hip.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on one side propped on the forearm, the lower knee bent for balance, the top leg straight.
Steps
- Lift the top leg up and back on a diagonal behind you.
- Squeeze at the top without twisting the hips.
- Return the leg along the same diagonal; finish the side, switch.
Common mistakes
Arching the lower back to take the leg further back: the hip ends the range. Rolling the torso back as the leg goes back: the hips stay stacked. Kicking: lift and lower at an even pace.
Breathing
Exhale lifting, inhale lowering.
