Bent Knee Back to Side Kick

On all fours, the bent leg kicks back, returns, then lifts out to the side: two moves per rep.

How to do it

Setup

On all fours, hands under the shoulders, knees under the hips.

Steps

  1. Drive the bent leg back until the thigh is level.
  2. Bring it in, then lift the knee out to the side.
  3. Lower and repeat the pair; switch legs after the set.

Common mistakes

Leaning away from the side lift: the torso stays still over the hands. Arching the back on the kick: the thigh stops level. Swinging the leg: pause at the end of each move.

Breathing

Exhale on each lift, inhale lowering.
