Seated Upper Body Rotation

Sitting cross-legged with the arms straight overhead, the upper body circles: to one side, forward, to the other side and back up.

How to do it

Setup

Sitting tall on the floor, legs crossed, arms straight overhead with the palms together.

Steps

  1. Lean the upper body out to one side, the arms by the ears.
  2. Sweep it forward and around to the other side in one circle.
  3. Rise back to upright and start the next circle.

Common mistakes

Collapsing forward at the front of the circle: keep the back long and the arms by the ears. Hips rocking off the floor: both sit bones stay down. Rushing the circle: slow and even, the same size each time.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
