Seated Isometric Hold Pull-Up

Hold the top of a seated pull-up, chest at the bar and the body straight from the heels, for time.

How to do it

Setup

Seated under a bar within reach of straight arms, legs long, heels down, overhand grip shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Pull the chest to the bar and lift the hips into one line.
  2. Hold there with the shoulder blades squeezed.
  3. Hold and breathe; time it, then lower slowly.

Common mistakes

Hips sinking during the hold: re-squeeze the glutes or end the set. Chest drifting away from the bar: the hold ends when it does. Holding the breath: breathe steadily.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
