Seated Cuban Press
Seated with the bells hanging at the sides, lift the elbows out to shoulder height and turn the forearms up, press overhead, then reverse the path down.
How to do it
Setup
Seated on a flat bench, back tall, light bells hanging at arm's length by the sides.
Steps
- Lift the elbows out to the sides until they reach shoulder height.
- Turn the forearms up until the bells sit beside the ears.
- Press both bells overhead to straight arms.
- Reverse each stage on the way back to the sides.
Common mistakes
Heavy bells: the turn of the forearms is weak by design; go light. Elbows sinking as the forearms turn: they stay at shoulder height. Rushing straight from the sides to the press: stop at the elbows-up position first.
Breathing
Exhale through the rotation and press, inhale returning.
