Ring Face Pull

The face pull on gymnastic rings, leaning back with the body as the weight; the rings swing and turn freely, so the shoulders hold the line.

How to do it

Setup

A ring in each hand, body leaning back in a straight line, arms long, palms down.

Steps

  1. Pull the rings toward the face, elbows high and wide.
  2. Let the rings turn as the hands arrive beside the head.
  3. Lower back to straight arms with control.

Common mistakes

Body bending at the hips: glutes tight, heels to head in one line. Elbows dropping into a row: aim the hands at the face. Starting too low: walk the feet back until the finish is clean.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale on the way down.
