Ring Dip

Dips on rings; the rings turn under load, so the shoulders and the trunk stabilise every rep.

Ring Dip, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Rings at support height, arms locked, rings turned slightly out.

Steps

  1. Lower with the rings tracking close to the body.
  2. Elbows to ~90°.
  3. Press back up and steady the turnout at the top.

Common mistakes

Attempting before bar dips are strong: rings multiply everything. Rings drifting wide: close to the ribs. Rushing the lockout: the top hold is half the skill.

Breathing

Inhale lowering, exhale pressing.
