Riding Outdoor Bicycle
Cycling outdoors on a road or trail; the legs push the pedals round while the gears and the terrain set the effort.
How to do it
Setup
Saddle high enough for a slightly bent knee at the bottom of the stroke, helmet on.
Steps
- Push each pedal through the whole circle, not only down.
- Shift gears to keep the cadence even on hills.
- Keep the upper body relaxed; log the time and distance.
Common mistakes
Grinding a heavy gear uphill: shift down and spin. Watching the front wheel: eyes up the road ahead. Death grip on the bars: loose hands, soft elbows.
Breathing
Steady; let it rise with the pace.
