Reverse Hyperextension on Stability Ball

The reverse hyperextension with the hips over a stability ball and the hands on the floor: the ball takes the place of the bench and asks for balance.

How to do it

Setup

Hips and belly over a stability ball, hands on the floor in front, legs straight behind with the toes down.

Steps

  1. Lift both straight legs until they line up with the back.
  2. Hold for a beat with the ball still under the hips.
  3. Lower the toes back toward the floor with control.

Common mistakes

Ball rolling forward: walk the hands out until the hips sit on its top. Legs rising higher than the back: the lower back takes the load; stop in line. Legs splitting apart: keep them together.

Breathing

Exhale as the legs rise, inhale on the way down.
