Trap Bar Banded Deadlift

The trap bar deadlift with bands from the bar's frame to the floor; the tension climbs as you stand, so the lockout is the hardest point.

How to do it

Setup

Inside the hex bar, a band from each side anchored at the floor; handles gripped, hips wedged, back flat.

Steps

  1. Stand up as the bands stretch, handles close to the sides.
  2. Keep driving through the top where the bands pull hardest.
  3. Lower under control; the bands will try to snap the bar down.

Common mistakes

Bands unequal on the two sides: the hex bar twists; match them. Letting the bands yank the bar to the floor: control every lowering. Hips stalling short of lockout as the bands peak: squeeze the glutes through.

Breathing

Big breath at the bottom, exhale after lockout.
