Kettlebell Staggered-Stance Deadlift

The kettlebell deadlift in a staggered stance: the back foot's toes steady you while the front leg lowers and lifts the bell.

How to do it

Setup

Front foot flat, back foot's toes a half step behind, one kettlebell in both hands in front of the front shin, knees soft.

Steps

  1. Push the hips back over the front heel, the bell lowering to the floor.
  2. Tap the bell down lightly with the back flat.
  3. Drive through the front foot to stand; finish the side, switch.

Common mistakes

Pushing off the back foot: its toes only steady you. Bell drifting ahead of the front foot: it travels close to the shin. Twisting toward the back leg: hips and shoulders stay square.

Breathing

Inhale at the bottom, exhale after lockout.
