Resistance Band Reverse Crunch

The reverse crunch with a band looped around the hips from a low anchor beyond the feet; the band pulls the pelvis down, so each curl lifts against it.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, a band looped around the hips from a low anchor beyond the feet, knees bent over the hips, hands holding a fixed support behind the head.

Steps

  1. Curl the pelvis up off the floor, bringing the knees toward the chest.
  2. Pause at the top, where the band pulls hardest.
  3. Lower the hips slowly, keeping the band taut.

Common mistakes

Band sliding up the back: set the loop low around the hips before starting. Swinging the knees to beat the band: keep the knee angle fixed and curl the pelvis. Hips dropping fast: lower against the band, not with it.

Breathing

Exhale curling up, inhale lowering.
