Reach Up Back Stretch

Raise the crossed arms overhead as high as they go; the lats along the sides of the back lengthen.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, arms straight ahead at shoulder level, crossed at the wrists.

Steps

  1. Raise the crossed arms as high as they reach.
  2. Tip the head slightly forward to reach higher.
  3. Hold, then lower and cross the other arm on top.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back to reach higher: ribs down. Elbows bending: keep the arms long and crossed. Throwing the head back: let it tip slightly forward instead.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
