Pull-Up (Weighted)

Hang a plate from a dip belt, pull your chin over the bar, then lower to straight arms with control.

Pull-Up (Weighted), illustrated

How to do it

Setup

Plate on a dip belt, overhand grip a little wider than shoulders, dead hang.

Steps

  1. Start the pull from the shoulder blades.
  2. Chin over the bar, elbows to the ribs.
  3. Lower all the way to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Adding weight before owning strict reps: ten clean bodyweight first. Shortening the range under load: full hang stays. Swinging the plate: hang a beat until it stills.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
