Plate Pinch
Squat down, pinch a plate in each hand between the flat fingers and the thumb, and stand up with them at the sides; the pinch, not the legs, limits the load.
How to do it
Setup
Feet hip-width with a plate beside each foot.
Steps
- Squat down and pinch each plate at the rim, thumb on one face, fingers on the other.
- Stand up tall with the plates at the sides.
- Squat back down and set them down under control.
Common mistakes
Curling the fingers around the rim: keep them flat so the pinch does the work. Rounding the back to reach the plates: squat down with a straight back. Dropping the plates at the end: lower them; a dropped plate lands on toes.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale up.
