Weighted Standing Hand Squeeze

Standing with a plate hanging from one hand by its grip hole; the fingers squeeze to draw it up a little and let it settle back.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, a plate at one side, the fingers hooked through its grip hole.

Steps

  1. Squeeze the fingers to draw the plate up toward the palm.
  2. Keep the wrist straight and the arm long.
  3. Relax the fingers slowly until the plate hangs from them again; switch hands after the set.

Common mistakes

Shrugging or bending the elbow to lift the plate: the arm hangs; only the fingers work. Letting the plate slide to the fingertips: keep the fingers hooked through the hole. Leaning away from the plate: stand tall and square.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
