Dumbbell Wrist Rotation

Kneeling at a bench with the forearm along it and the hand past the edge, a dumbbell held in the middle rolls from palm-down to palm-up and back.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling beside a flat bench, the forearm along it, the hand just past the edge gripping a dumbbell in the middle.

Steps

  1. Turn the palm up as far as the forearm allows.
  2. Turn it back over until the palm faces down.
  3. Keep the elbow and the forearm still on the bench.

Common mistakes

Lifting the forearm to help the turn: it stays on the bench; only the hand rotates. Letting the bell drop at either end: slow the turn before each stop. Bending the wrist: keep it straight.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
