Pike Push-Up (Between Chairs)
The pike push-up with each hand on a sturdy chair, so the head can sink below the hands at home; the chairs must not move.
How to do it
Setup
Two sturdy chairs shoulder-width apart, hands on the seats, feet on the floor, hips high in an inverted V.
Steps
- Bend the arms and let the crown of the head drop between the seats.
- Keep the hips high over the hands.
- Push the seats away until the arms are straight.
Common mistakes
Chairs sliding or tipping: set them against a wall, all legs on the floor. Hips sagging into a push-up: keep them high; this presses with the shoulders. Dropping too deep too soon: lower only as far as you can press out.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale pressing.
