Machine Seated Hammer-Grip Shoulder Press
The seated machine press on the parallel handles, palms facing each other; the machine fixes the path and the grip keeps the elbows forward.
How to do it
Setup
Seated with the back on the pad, the parallel handles at shoulder height, palms facing in.
Steps
- Press the handles up until the arms are straight.
- Keep the back on the pad and the shoulders down.
- Return until the handles are level with the shoulders.
Common mistakes
Seat set so the handles start above the shoulders: adjust it until they begin at shoulder height. Locking the elbows hard at the top: stop just short and keep the tension. Back peeling off the pad to finish: press it flat and lighten the load.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
