Overhead Triceps Stretch

One arm reaches up and bends so the hand drops between the shoulder blades, the other hand easing the elbow back; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Standing or seated tall, one arm reaching straight up, shoulders down.

Steps

  1. Bend the elbow and let the hand drop down the middle of the back.
  2. Rest the other hand just above the elbow and ease it back.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Pushing the head forward under the arm: the head stays upright, behind the elbow. Arching the lower back to go deeper: ribs down. Yanking the elbow: light pressure is enough.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
